“Gimme a W…gimme an A…"

“Gimme a L, M, A, R, T…what does that spell? Wal-Mart! I can’t hear you…WAL-MART! One more time…WAL-MART!” Yall, I am not even kidding when I say this. I was in Wal-Mart this morning and I hear this chant and cheering from a few aisles over. I whipped my buggy around and headed in that direction…I was not about to miss this kind of action. And sure enough, a large group of Wal-Mart employees were gathered in a football huddle chanting together! The manager (I’m assuming it was the manager) then said, “Are we going to have a great day? [cheers from the crowd]. I mean, are we going to have a great day? [louder cheers from the crowd]. Ok, let’s go!” I couldn’t help but smile as I went about my shopping. And I wasn’t the only one smiling…I noticed several other grins of shoppers within earshot of this little event.

I have never been a fan of this particular store (for lots of reasons) but I think I’m going to have to give them a second chance! Or maybe just do my shopping on Tuesday mornings! :) I really wish I would have snapped a pic with my phone!

And here is my little man ready for the fall…all he needs is a duck call! Adam’s grandparents gave him the camo get-up complete with a quacking mallard!

happy tuesday!

“chi-o baby”

This was the text I got from Rebecca last Saturday! I know, another post about the little sister… After a week of LSU rush, she pledged chi-o. It was quite a week for those poor girls…it is just brutal at LSU; I’ll leave it at that! I know she is going to make some life long friendships and incredible memories! Oh, college is so much FUN!

ps – I am listening to kids folk music on Pandora (which is soooo great) and a song about marshmallows has been playing and it is cracking me up! “fluffy and white on a fire so nice… oh, how I love to eat marshmallows!” yes, I am laughing as I type this! If only you could hear the tune! :) and this pic makes me very excited about cold weather...

back to school

I still can’t believe this but I’m coming to terms with it…my baby sister is in college?!?!?!? WHAT??? She’s always been on the mature side; sometimes it feels like she could be graduating from college but it’s crazy to think she is wandering around LSU campus! I helped my parents move her in the dorm the weekend before she started rush. I can’t even really describe how hot it was outside. I saw countless dads who looked like they had been to the natatorium! :) After lots of trips back and forth from the car to the 5th floor, Rebecca officially moved into Miller Mansion! Woo hoo!!!

It does, however, make me the tiniest bit sad that I am not in my art room handing out new portfolios! I always loved those first days back. Most of the kids are on their best behavior and you can really see how much they grow in two months!

I can't believe I don't have any pics of my old art room! :( But this is one of my favorite pregnancy pics! :)

I miss Forest Heights but I am so happy to be home with my little tator tot! Almost six months and such a chunk!

summer reading

I didn’t get to read nearly as much as I would have liked this summer but something is better than nothing, right?!? I mean, I do have a 5 month old! ☺ Anywho, my absolute favorite was The Help but a very close second was The Secret Life of Cee Cee Wilkes (you won’t be able to put it down). I went on a very long Christian romance novel kick but have lately been into historical fiction and bestsellers. Don’t worry Karen Kingsbury, you’re still my girl but just taking a little break! ☺ I also read Saving Cee Cee Honeycutt (sweet book…very similar to The Help), Still Missing (not exactly one I would recommend…it says the “f” word A LOT which I’m not crazy about), Black and Blue (a tough read but good) and I am currently reading A Soft Place to Land (I like it so far…heart wrenching at the moment).

Ok, all this talk about books…I need to go fix a cup of hot tea and grab my book!

weekend recap

This past weekend we drove down to Franklin to see some good friends, J & C and their baby boy. We lived in the same condo complex as newlyweds but since their move we don’t get to see them nearly as much as we would like. But we had a fabuloso weekend, considering we had a 5 month old and an 8 month old! HA! Fabuloso in a new, I love my child but I’m always a little bit exhausted, kind of way! We went swimming, which is always a little treat for William!

We also spotted a gator in the bayou behind their house…yowza!

I actually I had a dream that night William was sitting in his bumbo and a gator snatched him up while I was swimming! I’m not a big fan of gators, the reptiles or the fans! ☺ (geaux tigers!)

Speaking of dreams, we saw Inception last week…confusing? Yes! Good movie? I loved it. I shouldn’t say “love;” I liked it a lot. It’s deep and weird; my 18 year old sister hated it but I enjoyed it. It made me more aware of my dreams. When I was pregnant I had the most vivid dreams; I would wake up and think they really happened. This gator dream was the first vivid dream in a while…uh oh, this better not mean anything!!! ☺ (just kidding…shouldn’t happen for now). ☺

William rolled over yesterday for the first time!!! (August 11, almost 5 months)

first time for everything…

After reading blogs for too long and, thoroughly enjoying them I might add, I am going to do a little sharing myself!

Me in a nutshell…

Taught elementary art at a public school for three years. LOVED it. Had a baby boy in March. LOVE him! ☺ Decided to stay home for now. My days are full of all things baby: making bottles, changing diapers, calming tears, tickling toes, and doing my best to have dinner on the table at the end of the day!

My little boo, William, in a nutshell…

Born March 14, 2010. Sleeps through the night…ahhhhh!!! Fascinated with mobiles and mirrors. *Realized he likes baby paper this week. Ate carrots for the first time yesterday and LOVED it. Loves his bottle and bath time. Giggles every time we do peek-a-boo. Has his moments but a very content child…oh, I love that boy!!!

So, here is to documenting just a little bit of life in Baton Rouge! Cheers to Blogging!!!

* If you don’t have baby paper, you’re missing out! Crinkly paper that will keep him occupied for an entire meal! ☺
